Hasselback potatoes are crispy outside and creamy inside. It is like eating french fries and mashed potatoes at the same time.

Hasselback potatoes are full of flavour, you can play around with any flavour you want. You can use fresh or dried herbs as well as spices of your choice. In this recipe I used butter instead of oil as I like that buttery flavour in my potatoes.

Hasselback potatoes are so nutritious since they are cooked and eaten with their skin on. They are perfect for lunch as well as dinner. These potatoes are also good as a side for a vegan dish.

My homemade Hasselback Potatoes

Hasselback potatoes are easy to make and they need few ingredients. Potatoes, herbs or spices and butter and you are good to go. You don’t need any fancy equipment either.

Hasselback potatoes don’t need much time to prepare since you are not going to peel the potatoes.

Just wash the potatoes well to remove any dirt. Dry the potatoes, cut them , toss with melted butter and pop into the oven. Not much attention is needed .

The secret to have crispy and tender Hasselback potatoes is to slice them thinly. Also, when you are arranging them in a baking tray, leave space between the potatoes. If you pack them together they will steam and tend to be mushy and not crispy.

Cutting Hasselback potatoes can be tricky because sometimes you may end up cutting the potatoes throughout but we don’t want that. To avoid that, place your potatoes between 2 wooden spoons and cut with a sharp knife.
